What it is about

Ceramic or Composite Fillings – briefly explained

We detect decay as early as possible and treat it as minimally as possible. Small to medium defects are treated with modern hybrid composites, applied and cured in layers. For larger defects, especially in the back teeth, our laboratory produces a precisely fitted ceramic inlay or onlay.

We do not use amalgam. On request, we remove existing amalgam fillings gently and biocompatibly – using a rubber dam, suction and water cooling – and replace them metal-free.

In detail

Composite or ceramic – what suits when?

Small and medium defects

Composite filling

Placed directly in a single session, minimally invasive, very good aesthetics. Ideal for front teeth and smaller areas of decay in the back teeth.

  • One session
  • Substance-preserving
  • Repairable
Large defects, high chewing load

Ceramic inlay / onlay

Made in the laboratory, extremely precise fit and abrasion-resistant. The most durable metal-free solution when a lot of tooth structure is missing.

  • Very long-lasting
  • Dimensionally stable
  • Perfect aesthetics

Frequently asked questions

What patients ask us

Do composite fillings last as long as amalgam?

With correct application and good care, modern composites last many years. For very large defects, we recommend ceramic.

Does health insurance cover it?

In Switzerland, fillings are generally paid for privately; exceptions apply for accidents and certain conditions. We provide a cost estimate.

Are composites biologically compatible?

We use tested, low-irritant materials and work under a rubber dam. If you have known sensitivities, we advise on alternatives such as full ceramic.
